I'm thinking we narrow down on the definition of this category because there is clearly some conflict going on here. Let's define it as this: If the character was alive during their last appearance then they are a Living Character. If the character was harmed in any way and seems it indiscernible that they died at the time, then it's a Character of Unknown Fate. The categories can always be changed if they get revived, brought back or retconed.
