JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 JoJo no Kimyō na Bōken) (differentiated here by the addition The Animation) is a 2012 TV Anime adaptation of Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure produced by David Production.

The first episode of Season 1 was broadcast in Japan on October 5, 2012, ending after 26 episodes on April 5, 2013. Season 1 covers the entirety of Parts 1 and 2, encompassing 113 manga chapters. A second season, covering Part 3, began airing in Japan on April 4, 2014 and ended on June 19th, 2015. A third season, covering Part 4, began airing in Japan on April 1, 2016, and ended on December 23, 2016. During a livestreamed conference on June 21, 2018, for Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition: Ripples of Adventure, Hirohiko Araki himself announced that the fourth season of the anime covering Part 5 would air on Japanese television that fall.

Media distribution service Crunchyroll has obtained the streaming licenses for Season 1 and 2; both of which can be viewed on their website. Media streaming service Netflix has access to Season 1 and Season 2, in both English and Japanese Audio, and Hulu has Season 1 and 2 in English and Japanese, as well as Season 3 in Japanese.

Trivia

  • The anime was announced on July 5, 2012 in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and unveiled during the Hirohiko Araki JoJo Exhibition 2012 press conference alongside JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle. The teaser presented a countdown video, starting with 8 to 1, each number appearing on their respective JoJo protagonist's star birthmark.
  • Compared to future seasons, the Blu-Ray Disc versions of only this season are streamed on Crunchyroll. This is likely due to the website obtaining the license well after the anime finished airing, contrasting with the hour-delay upload schedules of succeeding parts.
  • Unlike future seasons, the episode titles in this season are derived from the Weekly Shōnen Jump release, rather than the tankobon.
